How it Works

Elite Golf Solutions - Into the hole?

Summary Content:

Our handicapping service works pretty much in the same way that it does it a golf club with the exception that the 3 submitted cards do not need to have been played in competition conditions. We can accept scorecards from golf courses worldwide.

Free Trial: select this option if you wish to try our services before subscribing. During the trial membership you can enter up to 12 scorecards, but it’s only necessary to select 3 cards to calculate your initial handicap, the remaining cards, should you enter more, can then be used to adjust your handicap.

Annual Membership: our current fee is £21.95 and this can be paid online or by using our Postal/Fax application form.  If paid online the membership is for one year, to extend it you will need to renew your membership one year later.  Our online payments are made via the Stripe payment gateway and therefore your online security is assured.

Entering Scorecards Online: is not essential if  you're looking to obtain a golf handicap as we will happily calculate your handicap based on the scorecards submitted to us., however, it is a fairly straightforward process and will only take a few minutes. To do this select the 'Enter New Round' link on the 'Handicap Management' page (only available when logged on) then search for the club/course that you have cards for; if more than one club/course is presented please check that the system card details are the same as the ones on your card, if not, then please report this error for us to correct.

Once you have selected the relevant course a course card will pop-up so that you can enter your round details. If your round was a Stableford one then please select that option and only enter your gross scores as our system will calculate your Stableford points for you.

If the club/course that you wish to select is not available then you can enter the details, this only takes a few minutes, the club/course cards will then be there for all users to access.  If you do not wish to do this yourself then please contact us and we’ll be happy to do this on your behalf.

Calculating your Handicap: this can be done online if you have entered a minimum of 3 scorecards on our system or, if you prefer, you can send them to us (if you are a member) and we will calculate your handicap for you and enter it online. It the scorecards that you have entered online are more than 9 months old then our system will not allow them to be used for calculating your handicap, but that does not mean that you cannot submit them to us. If they are older than 9 months then please call us to check their acceptance.

If you use our Fax/Postal application form then we will calculate your handicap from the 3 cards submitted then enter the result on our system, which will be displayed on your pages.

If you’d like to know how your handicap is calculated please check our FAQ section for more information.

Requesting a Handicap Certificate: this is done by clicking on the appropriate link on the 'Handicap Management' page (once you have joined). Current options are 1st Class (normally processed within 2 working days of receiving scorecards), 9am Next Day delivery (£9.95) or 1pm Next Day delivery (£5.95). Please note that we require scorecards to be sent to us by 1pm if the Next Day delivery service is requested. Requests from abroad should select the 1st Class delivery option; there is no additional charge for posting worldwide.

Submitting Scorecards for a Handicap: before we can issue a golf handicap we need to receive your scorecards, you can send them by post, fax or email (scanned copies). If sending them by post we’d recommend that you keep a copy of them as we cannot be held responsible for scorecards that fail to arrive.  With the exception of Next Day delivery request, we normally send an email confirmation within 24 hours of receipt and will let you know when your application will be processed.  If you do not hear from us within 24 hours (work days only) then please contact us to ensure that we have received them.

Note: the scorecards submitted do not need to be from the same course and they can be from any tee colour, but we cannot accept cards from Par 3 courses for allotting new handicaps.

It’s preferable that the player requesting the handicap has his scores in one of the Players column; however, it is acceptable for the player’s scores to be in the Markers column, as long as we can clearly identify which scores are which.  It’s also necessary to identify which tee colour was used for each game and each card dated.  Both the player and playing partner need to sign the scorecard.  If you are submitting cards by fax or email please ensure that the course name is identified on the front of card, writing it if necessary.

Handicap Updates: are provided free of charge, should your Playing Handicap change during your membership. Simply 'Request a Handicap' online then send us your current handicap card along with any relevant scorecards i.e. the most scorecards that have adjusted your handicap.

Membership Renewals: can be done by phone, online or by using our application form. It is preferable to receive at least one scorecard (preferably 2 or 3) so that we can assess whether or not your handicap requires adjusting.  In the absence of recent scorecards being submitted we may cut your handicap by up to two shots.

Junior Handicaps: can be issued up to the age of 16, with a handicap allowance of up to 54.0.  The cards supplied do not need to be played over 18 holes, for juniors we can accept cards from 9 or 12 hole rounds as well.

Note: our system does not cater for junior handicaps so they must be sent to us to be calculated manually.  Please ensure when applying that you make it clear that the application is for  junior player.

Ladies Handicaps: are issued up to a maximum of 36.0 and, although our system will only calculate to 28.0, we will manually calculate ladies handicaps up to 36.0 and issue them as per normal.

Golf Societies: can subscribe to our system if they wish to keep track of their Events, Match Reports and Handicap Management. Events can be set up in advance and, once an event is completed, the Secretary (or a Delegate) should enter the scorecards online so that the Match Reports and Handicap Adjustments (which is optional) can be done.  It is recommended that a society should have at least 8 members.

Once a society subscribes online (£24.95) an email is sent to the Secretary who can then forward it on their members in order that they can register against the links provided thereby giving them 'view' access to the societies pages.

Members of golf societies that wish to upgrade to Full Membership in order to request a handicap certificate can do so at the discounted (25%) rate of £14.96.
